Strike Diversion Surcharge - USA to All Destinations

Issue Date: September 20, 2024

CaroTrans has implemented the following Strike Congestion Surcharge effective October 1, 2024 for LCL Export of USD $35W/M.

Due to the possibility of a pending strike impacting the US East Coast and Gulf Ports CaroTrans will implement a Strike Congestion Surcharge of $35.00 w/m should the strike go into effect. This surcharge will be applicable on all export cargo departing the USA.

CaroTrans will continue to monitor the labor situation between the International Longshoremen's Association (ILA) and the US Maritime Alliance (USMX). We are hopeful that the strike will be avoided and the Strike Congestion Surcharge will only take place should the Strike go into effect. Other charges such as detention, demurrage, storage, etc. would also be passed through per the terms on the bill of lading.

Please reach out to your local CaroTrans office should your booking require an alternative or diverted routing.

A separate Strike Diversion Surcharge may apply to bookings requiring a diversion.
