U.S. East Coast and Gulf Coast Port Strike / USA Labor Disruption

As a follow-up to previous announcements regarding labor disruptions in the United States, the ILA
(International Longshoremen’s Association) went on strike at midnight on September 30th. All terminals on the eastern seaboard and Gulf Coast are currently closed. As of today, 54 vessels are waiting to berth and are presently anchored outside of U.S. ports, with several shipping lines declaring force majeure. Latest reports indicate that the ILA and USMX (United States Maritime Alliance) have ceased negotiations with no announced plans to resume.CaroTrans is committed to servicing our customers with LCL and FCL solutions via Canada and the West Coast. We do expect rail and terminal congestion for both routes to be impacted in the coming days and weeks as the strike continues. As a result of the labor action and the increase in operational costs involved, CaroTrans has announced the following surcharges:
• Import Strike Congestion Surcharge – $75 W/M, effective October 31
• Export Strike Diversion Surcharge – $35 W/M, effective October 4
